Description: This listing is for a hand-made, one-of-a-kind, original design ladies ring crafted in 14 karat solid white gold and featuring an asymmetrical triangular natural blue sapphire. The sapphire measures 6.7 - 5.0 x 3.2 mm with an actual weight of 0.72 carat. It exhibits a lovely violetish blue color and has very good to good clarity (completely eye-clean) and is of very good overall cut. I remember specifically buying this as a loose gem for its tanzanite-like color...but of course sapphires are MUCH harder and more durable than tanzanites are! This truly is a striking gemstone with the unique cut and gorgeous color. Most all sapphires are heat treated, and this gem almost certainly was heated, but it is a rare, genuine, natural gem. Blue sapphire is September's birthstone, but this ring is a joy to own and wear regardless of your birth month! The mounting is a true objet d'art. It was manufactured in our own award-winning small shop in southeastern Michigan by the lost wax casting process, and the original wax was hand carved. There was no CAD assistance used when making the ring, and a mold was never made of this original, so it is a unique, one-of-a-kind ring. The prongs were soldered on the finished casting individually and the bearing is also handmade; there was no use of a pre-made head. The jeweler who crafted this piece also made several award-winning pieces in various jewelry design contests. The ring is low profile and very comfortable to wear. It weighs a very hefty 6.8 grams (as we write this, over $335 in just the melt value of the gold!) and is 13.0 mm wide at the top. The ring is currently a finger size 6.25, but this is easily changeable by any competent jeweler. The ring was priced at $1,595 in our brick-and-mortar fine jewelry store that closed in 2020.
