It took place approximately 7 mi (11 km) northwest of Hastings, close to the present-day town of Battle, East Sussex, and was a decisive Norman victory. Between 1066 and 1204, as a result of the Norman conquest of England, most of the kings of England were also dukes of Normandy. The Normans were a population arising in the medieval Duchy of Normandy from the intermingling between Norse Viking settlers and indigenous West Franks and Gallo-Romans. The term is also used to denote emigrants from the duchy who conquered other territories such as England and Sicily. The Norse settlements in West Francia followed a series of raids on the French northern coast mainly from Denmark, although some also sailed from Norway and Sweden. These settlements were finally legitimized when Rollo, a Scandinavian Viking leader, agreed to swear fealty to King Charles III of West Francia following the siege of Chartres in 911. The intermingling in Normandy produced an ethnic and cultural "Norman" identity in the first half of the 10th century, an identity which continued to evolve over the centuries.Ray Lamb (UK) made his name known by winning in 1973 at the BMSS with his "Chasseur à Cheval". Ray started sculpting some 75mm for Hinchliffe in 1973; also a Taisho Samourai in 150mm. In 1975, he founded his own "Poste Militaire" brand; creating mostly 90mm. Other sculptors included J. Hullis, D. Hansen, K. Durham, and Mike Good.Minor tarnish on shield (see pic)Your shipment will arrive via USPS Priority Mail (1-4 business days) or USPS Ground Advantage (2-5 business days), after the 2-3 day processing time (upon paid purchase)Shipment(s) sent out of Lemon Grove, California, USAWE CAN COMBINE-SHIP - ASK US FIRST!Will be packed very well - READ OUR FEEDBACK!No Returns ***AN INVOICE WILL BE SENT AFTER PURCHASE, WHICH MAY REFLECT A MORE ACCURATE POSTAGE RATE FOR THIS ITEM - DON'T PASS THIS UP YET!
