1/144 USAF KC-135E Tanker "Tiger Meet" Minicraft #14627 OOP Shrink Wrapped MISB

Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! Minicraft Model Kits has a very large line of very small aircraft in 1/144 scale. This helps the budget as well as shelf space and allows you to collect a larger number of subjects. Unfortunately, Minicraft shut down operations in November 2022, so their kits will be harder to find from now on. With their longtime association with Academy, it is possible that Academy may end up with the molds and the models will live on. The Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker entered service in 1957 with over 800 being delivered through 1965. Engine and avionics upgrades have taken place over the years and these airframes are still carrying the load for air forces around the world. The KC-135E variant is an Air National Guard KC-135A that has had its engines replaced with those from retired commercial 707 airliners. I only found a few listings for this kit on eBay (all opened), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this Out of Production model: Naturally, the Minicraft website (minicraftmodels.com) has been shut down. From other sources, I have found the following information about the subject and the kit: In the early 1950s, the US Air Force needed a new high-speed jet transport that was capable of providing mid-air refueling for the new high speed jet bombers coming into service. The C/KC-135 design was chosen and has now served in the United States Air Force for almost 60 years, making it among the longest serving “front-line” aircraft in history. The new Minicraft KC-135 represents the KC-135 as it has served the US Air Force for almost 60 years. Extensive modifications have been made to extend the service life of the KC-135 and this new kit features all new tooling. New decals by Cartograf will include markings for two US Air Force aircraft. · Authentic 1/144 scale· Fine recessed panel lines and engraved detail· Detailed landing gear bay· Cartograf decals Scalemates.com shows that this is 2013 tooling that has been released several times across the Minicraft Model Kits and Academy brands. They provide a link to download the complete 8-page instruction set and painting guide. They also show the wonderful box art and provide links to reviews, project galleries and many C-135 references to prepare you for your build. Peter Mollenhauer gave us a thorough In-Box Review on the archive.aeroscale.net site with seven photos covering the fuselage and wing halves, the sprues, impressive decals and the painting guide. He provides comments on each section of the aircraft, as well as the decals and his successful test fitting. He highly recommended the kit and pointed out: “Very good panel lines, no flash, fitting seems to be excellent, detailed undercarriage bays, attractive decals.” John Hergenrother published an excellent Build Review on the finescale.com site with six photos of his completed project. He was impressed with the fineness of the molding, the great fit and the outstanding Cartograf decals. He went with the Tiger Meet scheme, and it looked fantastic. In his summary, he said: “I found Minicraft’s KC-135E a really easy kit to assemble. Sharp engineering with razor crisp parts and a simple monochromatic paint scheme made this almost a weekend build — and the finished model looks like a KC-135E.” Fotios Rouch did a quick Build Review on the cybermodeler.com site showing almost twenty photos of his work in progress and the finished product. He gives us a ton of tips on how to get the most out of this small kit. His final result came out great in my opinion and in his review, he said: “Modelers have been waiting for Minicraft to produce the 135 family for years now and the wait is finally over.” This kit is in a colorful, sturdy box about 14” x 7.5” x 2”. As you can see from the pictures, the box is in fantastic shape and is still sealed with the original shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and definitely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with about 60 detailed grey and clear plastic parts and a large sheet of Cartograf decals for two different Air National Guard aircraft. I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time.
