Description: Very rare vintage photograph print Photo Shows: BUILDING THE FIRST TRANSCONTINENTAL RAILROAD: A group photo of railroad workmen, posed in front of the Paymaster Car at Blue Creek Station - Promontory, UT. As the construction job neared it's end, 10,000 men were working on the railroad as tracklayers (about one in four), graders, teamsters, blacksmiths, bridge builders, etc. On the average they made three dollars a day. Notice that many Civil War veterans are still wearing parts of their old uniforms. Very high quality photo print. Professionally produced by Documentary Photo Aids, in Mount Dora FL. The overall size of this piece is 11x14" I believe that this photo was printed in the 1970's - 80'sIt was originally intended to be used as classroom student learning aid / discussion starter.
