1/24 North American P-51D Mustang Fighter Airfix #14001 Shrink Wrapped MISB

Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! I built the Airfix 1/24 Spitfire and Bf 109 kits about 22 years ago. They were simple kits using technology from the 60s and 70s, which was when I made most of my models. The kit was just as I remembered from making Revell, Italeri and Monogram models. The large scale lends itself to older eyes and to some creative superdetailing. I could only find three listings for this kit on eBay (in various conditions), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this classic kit: The Airfix site (uk.airfix.com) has a listing for the newest release of this kit (AIR #A14001V) as part of the Vintage Classics collection. I understand it is the same kit, just in a new box. They give the Parts Count at 238 with a Skill Level 3 and the following information about this iconic American fighter aircraft: A thoroughbred fighting aeroplane, the Mustang possessed the range, speed and firepower needed to secure air supremacy in the skies over Europe and despite only entering the Second World War during its latter stages, was regarded as one of the most effective fighters of the entire war - an 'Ace' maker. Scalemates.com has a listing that shows the dramatic box art and tells us it is a 1991 release based on the classic 1973 tooling that has been the basis of 16 releases across the Airfix, MPC and Heller brands. They provide a link to download the complete 14-page instruction set and full-color painting guide. They also provide plenty of links to references, books and photo galleries of completed projects to help you with your build. Roland Sachsenhofer published a Build Review on the hyperscale.com site. Like many of us, he had experience with this kit back in the 1970s when it was new and state-of-the-art. He worked hard on his project to get through some rough spots, but he provides over a dozen photos to show his amazing results. There are lots of tips and suggestions from his build, and he also said: “The shapes and dimensions of the model are, as experts have measured, the best that the large-scale model construction offers in terms of P-51D.” Primedmodelworks compiled a four-part series of Build Videos on YouTube that goes into great depth and provides some valuable techniques. He built it “out of the box” but went all out. He rescribed panel lines and put in extra detail as he went along. You can see the potential in this kit, given his outstanding results. The kit is in a large, dramatically illustrated box about 27” x 12.5” x 3”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in perfect condition and is still sealed with some rather tight shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains over 200 grey and clear plastic parts and a large sheet of amazing decals to create your very own large-scale P-51D Mustang with a pilot figure.
