Description: Rodina (Родина) was the first automatic wristwatch of the Soviet Union. It was produced from 1956 to the early 1960s at the 1st Moscow Watch Factory. Kirova, which from the very beginning was the only supplier of watches for the space industry in the USSR, thanks to which it went down in the world history of watchmaking as the manufacturer of the first astronauts' watches. The solid gold version of the Rodina was made in very small quantities. The case and lid are made of pure 583 gold and their weight is as much as 19g (95 carats). The 2415A mechanism is based on 22 jewels, is fully original and underwent a professional service inspection in March 2024, which included a 2-year warranty. The conservation work was carried out in the "Renoma" watchmaker's workshop in Chorzów (Poland), which is one of the best workshops in the antique watch industry in the region. The crown, hands, indexes and numbers on the dial are in excellent condition, gold-plated and fully original. Original glass with small scratches visible at an angle - difficult to capture with a camera. The pearl white dial of the watch is in perfect condition. The watch strap is new, made of genuine leather by the Polish manufacturer K.Red. Strap mounting width: 16mm The circumference at the middle clasp is approximately 17-18cm (6.7-7.1 inch) This particular copy has been in my family since new - it is a gift my grandfather received in 1961, which was commemorated with the engraving on the back visible in the photo. The literal translation is "To Volodymyr from his loving mother" "September 1961" An extremely rare piece in excellent condition and with a well-known history that will certainly add shine to many collections.
