Description: This is a reconed altec 421a ceramic magnet speaker or woofer. This is measured at about 9ohms. The cone and surround are dusty but very nice, no repairs. The cone glue is kinda ugly though… A paper dome was used instead of an aluminum dome. This could be changed if needed an aluminum dome is under $10. Supposedly the aluminum dome allows higher frequency. If you are using it in a bass guitar amp/tower it’s probably not necessary, but if you like to use a guitar with a bass amp then maybe… This is the model that uses the same back mounted basket as the famous 15” 416 driver. But has a ceramic magnet not alnico. These were made for bass musical instrument use, but I’ve used these as home speaker woofers for years. They are great! I actually like their sound equally to a 416, and to my ears they have a bit more bass. Since the mid is crossed over relatively low on a 3-way system the sound is very blended. If you are experimenting with speaker components they are well worth a test! They could seriously compete with a JBL 2225h/2226h/2235h depending on cabinet size, amp, crossover specs, and listening volume! I currently am using 2 in a custom cabinet that has amazing sound. (Main reason selling is i don’t have a matched pair… the other one I’m selling was reconed and is similar though!) Please inspect pics of condition. The foilcal is original but worn. There are some scuffs but no serious damage. This is a really good working example of this woofer. Kinda heavy and large… Packed to get to you safely!! Shipping $65
