16" Disston D-23 crosscut panel handsaw hand saw 11 point

Description: You are bidding on one Disston D-23 panel handsaw or hand saw as pictured.It is marked "ESTABLISHED 1840 D-23" inside the logo, "DISSTON HENRY DISSTON DIVISION H K PORTER COMPANY, INC PHILADELPHIA USA REG US PAT OFF MxF M IND RGTRADA", and "11" on the blade. The medallion is marked "DISSTON HKP USA" with the logo in the middle.Overall blade length measured along the teeth is about 15-15/16". It is sharpened as a crosscut saw, with 11 points or 10 teeth per inch. H K Porter owned Disston from 1955 to 1978, so this saw would date to that time period. Condition is mostly very good, reasonably bright and clean, but with some scattered patina (clor) and some spots of rust, with more on the non-logo side. I would call it moderately sharp. The blade has a slight bow if you sight down the teeth, with no kinks. The handle shows some wear at the sharp corners and at the ends of the two horns, and overall is good to very good. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location.
