Description: Nice bronze medal for 1757 Battle of Prague Seven Year War with Frederick the Great. Obverse: right facing half length portrait of Frederick the Great in armour wearing a wreath of oak leaves, his hair tied back, with "FRIDERICVS MAGN D.G. REX BORVSS EL BRAND DXX SILES ET" (Frederick as King of Prussia, Elector of Brandenburg and Duke of Sileso etc) around rim. Reverse: Winged Figure of Victory, lightening bolts extending from her right hand and captured weaponry, armour and cannon at her feet. In her left hand a shield bearing words "VICTORIA FRIDERICI MAGN" (Victory of Frederick the Great) hard to read as worn. She is kicking off the crown of the kneeling figure (Holy Roman Empress, Maria Theresa-Frederick's most significant rival). Around top rim "FAMA PRVDENTIA VIRTVTE" (Fame, Wisdom and Courage). Bottom has words hard somewhat hard to read "AVSTREXERC.PROPE.PRAG.TVNDIT CAESO ET PRAGA. OBSESSA" but translate "Total Defeat of the Austrian Army Near Prague and the Prague besieged the 6th of May 1757. Nice patina and measures approx 1-7/8" diameter. Medal is worn and may be hard to read-I have provided as many pictures as possible for accurate description. I believe the designer is Johann Holtzhey but I could not find a signature on the medal. Medal measures approx 1-7/8" (just slightly under 2").
