Description: Published / printed in 1781 by E. Easton at Sarum, England. The author’s name does not appear in the book, but from information found elsewhere, it is “Peter Beckford”. VG condition full leather binding with earlier neat, professional repair along the edge of the front hinge - see photos. Offsetting from the frontispiece onto the title page. Generally very light foxing - no pun intended. 2 pages of plates at the rear showing plans for housing hounds. Approximately 6 1/4 x 7 3/4 inches. The binding feels firm, but because of its age and being made of leather and previously repaired, should be nonetheless presumed to be at least somewhat fragile, handled very gently, and not over-opened at the risk of damaging the leather hinges. The hinges are always the weak point in leather bindings. If the book is handled as one would a modern book, there would be a significant risk of damaging it. Ideally, one should open the book only wide enough to read it. No writing or written marks on the pages, but there are various small marks of unknown origin here and there within the book. Heraldic bookplate of Harry Lancelot Lee [1759 - 1821] on the pastedown endpaper. Please examine photos closely if interested, and feel free to ask a question, or to request an additional photo. An adult recipient at the eBay registered address will need to sign for the book at delivery. 30 days to return for any reason, but the book must be returned unchanged and as shown in every respect. Thanks for your interest.
