Charles Allerton & SonsLongton18591942 Manufacturers of china and earthenware at the Park Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England.Charles Allerton started manufacturing in 1833, in partnership as Allerton, Brough & Green. When this partnership ended in 1859 Allerton continued with his sons as Charles Allerton & Sons. Charles Allerton died around June 1863. His four sons: William Allerton, John Bill Allerton, Charles Bradbury Allerton & Frederick James Allerton, continued the company under the original name.By August 1887, only William & Charles Bradbury Allerton remained in the business. Charles Bradbury retired in August 1887. By 1905 it was recorded that the present proprietors are grandsons of the late Mr. Charles Allerton. (The Longton Times and Echo; September 9, 1905). In April 1911 it was announce in the Pottery Gazette that.. "Allertons, Ltd. - This private company has just been registered with a capital of £40,000 in 2,000 preference shares of £10 each and 20,000 ordinary shares of £1 each, to take over the business of china and earthenware manufacturers carried on at Park Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, as Charles Allerton & Sons, and to adopt an agreement with Edwin Barlow Allerton, Ernest Bradbury Allerton and H. B. Allerton. The subscribers are Edwin B Allerton, H. B. Allerton, Ernest B. Allerton, and W. S. Allerton."The company was taken over in 1912 by Cauldon Ltd (later Cauldon Potteries Ltd).
