Description: Very Nice Nautical Capstan Style Pewter 6 Quill Hole Inkwell w/Ceramic InsertApprox: 8.975" (Base) x 3.25" H, 4.675" Diameter Top, 2.2" Well OpeningCirca: 1820-1860'sJust Reduced! Very nice 1800's ship's capstan style inkwell from selective collector's estate. These were largely used for nautical trips, hence the large base but of course had land use as well. Has a great look with 6 quill holes, good working lid and nice ceramic insert. This is larger than most with an almost 9" wide base & 3.25" high and 2.5 lbs. There is a "C" indented initial on top of lid, but not sure if it meant anything. The ceramic insert has a "7" stamped in bottom. Most of these are dated from the 1820-1860's and that is likely the case with this one. This collector had several hundred pieces of pewter collectibles from the 1700's and up from both Europe and the U.S. but we are assuming it was a U.S. made item. Great looking piece for any office desk or 1800's room decor. There are a few dings as shown in pictures, but overall very solid. We only dusted the item off after acquiring. Please look over all pictures taken for your consideration. We ship with extreme care! Of course there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through. We do this often. We require signature confirmation on most items above $100, unless you request otherwise. Also, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order.
