John Reich's Capped Bust motif made its debut on the coinage of our nation in 1807, and the first coins produced with this design were 750,500 Half Dollars. By 1829, all silver and gold denominations then in production would adopt at least one version of this design. After the Half Dollar, the Quarter Eagle was one of the first denominations to display Reich's now-familiar design. The unpopularity of the Quarter Eagle with contemporary bullion depositors, however, limited the Mint to only one year's production for the Capped Bust Left Two-and-a-Half series. This gold type was produced solely in 1808, and the next Quarter Eagles would not be produced until 1821 (at which time the Mint adopted the Capped Head Left design for this denomination).Store CategoriesStores HomeColonialsHalf CentsLarge CentsSmall CentsTwo-Cent PiecesThree-Cent SilversNickelsHalf DimesDimesTwenty-Cent PiecesQuarter DollarsHalf DollarsSeated DollarsTrade DollarsMorgan DollarsPeace DollarsOne Dollar GoldTwo Fifty GoldThree Dollar GoldFive Dollar GoldTen Dollar GoldTwenty Dollar GoldCommemorative GoldThree-Cent NickelsOther
