On-line research shows from researchworks:Francis Bradbury was born December 14, 1766 in Falmouth (now Portland), Maine, the son of Theophilus and Sarah (Jones) Bradbury. He married Hannah Jones, the daughter of John Jones and Nabby (Mears) Spooner, on October 6, 1803. Francis Bradbury was a sea captain before settling in Vergennes in 1809 where he secured a perpetual lease of waterpower in Vergennes. Francis assigned the lease to the Monkton Iron Company in which he retained an interest. In 1810 Francis purchased the gristmill on the island in Otter Creek. He also operated a store on the west side of the creek most of his business life. For a time Francis' brothers, George and Theophilus, also had an interest in Vergennes. Francis and his wife, Hannah, had six children: Frances (b. 1808), Francis, Jr. (1810-1859), Elizabeth Ann (d. 1815), Sarah Elenora (1816-1872), Elizabeth (1818-1820), and John Jones Spooner (b. 1822).
