Description: Antique Cheshire Bond & Collateral Security between John Rowbotham of Rainow Cheshire, Silk Manufacturer and Thomas Gaskell of Rainow esquire for £4,800 in 55th year of the reign of King George III I assume 1814 the security collateral for £2,400 also mentions Daniel Howard of Nether Knutsford, Robert Ward of Mottram St Andrew. John Hewitt of Tarporley, & Esther Beckett of Farndon in a release indenture. (if i read them all right) For that level of money at the time it must have been to build and equip a silk mill presumably at nearby Macclesfield. On paper, looks like hand made. Not signed or sealed so this may have been a draft, original folds plus one other, before I got this bond, and some grubbiness. see pictures too
