Description: I am offering for sale an 1816 Good Conduct Certificate for a soldier who fought for King Louis XVIII against former Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte during the Hundred Days Campaign after Napoleon's escape from exile on the island of Elba in 1815. Napoleon is referred to as usurper in the third line and the 13th line refers to the soldier's service on behalf of the Bourbon Family. The certificate has the signature of Division General Jean Pierre Joseph Bruguiere. There is a legend on the bottom left that states Pour Copie Conforme which is signed by the Intendant Militaire. It is in excellent condition with age appropriate wear and patina. It would look great framed. It measures 11 3/8" x 7".
