(English: Description of Egypt, or the collection of observations and researches which were made in Egypt during the expedition of the French Army, published by the order of His Majesty the Emperor, Napoleon the Great).*At the time of its publication in the early 1800s, "The Description of Egypt" was the largest known published work in the world.*The finished work was initiated by Napoleon and some 160 scholars and scientists who accompanied him in 1798-1801 during the French Revolutionary Wars, then completed in later years by about 2500 artists, engravers and technicians.*This print contains the Publisher's Stamp/Hallmark (a Sphinx) in the upper right corner.
