First edition. Here we have a detailed and comprehensive history of the Highland Regiments with accounts of military campaigns and expeditions. There is a fold-out colour map of The Highlands of Scotland denoting the Districts or Countries inhabited by the Highland Clans at the front of Volume I. Volume II includes tables of listings in the Appendix, one of which is fold-out.Brown leather boards with a decorative gilt border. Minor scuffing to the boards. Tan title block with gilt lettering and gilt decoration on the spines. Marbled endpapers. Bookplate on the front endpapers. Most of the map has become detached - the top corner remains in place and a repair has been attempted, but the map is in two pieces. Marks to a few pages. All pages are firm and the books are in very good condition. Vol I: xiii, iv, 536 pages. Vol II: viii, 445 pages, plus Appendix: xcviii pages. 22.5 x 14 cm.
