Description: Offered is a scarce ORIGINAL American almanac titled "Poor Wills Almanac, for the Year 1836: Bissextile or Leap Year, carefully calculated for the Latitude and Meridian of Philadelphia" by William Collom. Printed by Joseph McDowell of No. 25 Market Street, Philadelphia. 7" x 4" in the original plain paper wrappers tied with string. 18 pp. containing typical almanac contents---an engraving of a man diagramed with the astrological symbols, month-by-month astronomical information like times of sunrise, sunset, phases of the moon, high tides, etc. After the December page there is a six-page story "A Well Authenticated Fact", followed by short pieces like, "Anecdotes of a Shepherd's Dog", "Pride of a Cow", "Wonders" and "A Chapter On Pigs". the final page consists of advertisements for other books from the printer, Joseph McDowell. Obviously, this little almanac was well used so the plain paper covers are well worn about the edges and there is staining to the text throughout but it is complete. SEE THE SCANS AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE CONTINUING. Thanks for viewing!
