Description: This map is from Smith's Quarto, or second book in geography for common schools, academies and family. This map is from a steel engraving and was hand colored with watercolors. This book of geography was published in 1848 by Cady & Burgess New York. Some of the statistics and other information on this map includes country, nation or kingdom its population and the square miles, states of society, barbarous to civilized/enlightened, forms of governments, and religions. This map is attached to two extra pages that would be difficult to remove, so I have included them with the map. That is why there are photos of extra pages. They will all be included with the exception of the title page and cover. Map is a double page on a single sheet of paper measuring 12¾" x 19". The title page and cover shown are not Included in this auction but are shown for verification purposes only. This is an original 175 year old map, not a copy or reprint.
