Description: 1848 Seated Liberty Half Dime (Large Date) in Fine+ condition with nice choice original toning, contrasts, & surfaces. This coin has the Large Date which was caused when a mint emplloyee used larger date die punches that were to be used for the larger dimes. This coin has a lower mintage of 668,000 for all varieties of this year & this variety has a very small percentage of this number minted. There is also a slight 5 - 10 Degree Die Rotation. There are only about 160 survivors for this variety making it a R-4. A very attractive interesting scarcer coin from the Philadelphia Mint.
