Published by Richard Bentley, London in 1848. Originally published in its native Sweden, this is the first time it was translated into English. 'A serious and often impressive effort at literary treatment of folk life.'Bound in dark brown hardboards with blind stamped patterning. Blind stamped motifs and a black title label with gilt lettering to the rebacked spine. Slight wear to corners. Boards in very good condition. Light grey endpapers. Pages clean and firm. 304 + 326 pages. 21 x 13 cm.
