Description: Uncommon 27 January 1849 number of the Boston weekly Littell's Living Age is complete, and in very good condition. This number neatly rescued by me from an old and battered bound volume of the magazine. See photo #2 for complete contents. 47 pages. A few highlights I find include: An unsigned opening 10 page narrative on "The History of the Hugonots." This reprinted in America from the English Review. See photo #1 for opening page. New verse from Charles Mackay, The Light in the Window. Mackay was a Scottish journalist and poet. He was also the father of future popular novelist Marie Corelli. English novelist, editor and essayist Frederick Hardman's long story "Sigismund Fatello." Thomas Babington Macaulay's the "Death of King Charles II." This is a four page advance excerpt from the still unpublished first American edition of Macauley's two volume History of England, soon to be issued by Harper & Brothers in New York.
