Description: This wonderful picture collage salutes the America's Cup and the 1851 victory of the yacht America over Great Britain's finest sailing vessels. This victory brought to America what has become known as the America's Cup. After the Civil War, in 1870 the race now known as the America's Cup resumed and was won by the yacht Magic. The collage features a copy of a Courier & Ives print of the 1851 victory of the "America" as well as a picture of the yachts competing in the 1870 race. Highlighting the College is the First Day Cover of the stamp issued to honor the America's Cup. When a stamp is issued, on the first day it is only available for purchase in the city where it is issued. The Post Office certifies this by canceling the envelope "First Day of Issue". This stamp was issued in Newport, RI. This is a great collectible for any sailing buff. This collage is 10” x 13” picture and will fit any 10" x 13" frame. (a standard size). Solid Oak frames are available for an additional $20 with no increase in shipping charges. (This option does not apply when shipping outside the US. Please inquire as to what options are available.) I make all these collages by hand. As a history buff as well as a lover of old movies and all types of sports, the key to each picture is the research behind it. Deciding what movies should go with a particular star or what game or series would best reflect a certain sports hero is crucial to a successful collage. I then design each picture individually and lay out the design on the mat.
