Description: Here is a very nice old advertising token made of nickel, in quite splendid condition overall, measuring app. 3/4" across, with a plain edge. This tasty early Maryland piece shows just light wear, with only some tiny imperfections not overly distracting, and it has toned well over the years, with good color and full detail. I have not done anything to alter or enhance its appearance, with three of the photos having been "enhanced" for clarity. One of the world's tiniest edge clips is near 4:00 on the obverse, as struck. The business was founded by Henry A. Elliott in 1853, and he moved the location and added his brother William as a partner in 1855. Rulau identifies this token as Miller Md-45, where he mentions another author stating the token probably dates from 1870-75, the 1853 date commemorating "the formation of the firm." The obverse has that date, "1853" at the center, with "H. A. Elliott & Bro." around the top and "Balto." at the bottom. The center of the reverse reads "One Soda", with a star at the top and a bowed wreath of olive and oak around. Refreshing! $140. Please note I am always happy to combine shipping costs should you win more than one of my auctions, and I usually add just a minimal additional cost per item. Your business is sincerely appreciated!
