Description: Dated 1857 English sampler by Mary Rosers, worked with silk threads on fine linen. Cross stitches with accents of square eyelet stitches were used in a range of soft colors. “The Safron Tree” is placed below the motifs, and below that it reads “Mary Rosers,s work dine in the 14th year of her Age 1857″ worked over single threads. Condition is very good, although the sampler has not been examined out of the frame. No stitch loss, but there is slight fading and scattered light brownish stains, particularly in the lower third of the sampler. It's difficult to get clear photos through the glass. The sampler is about 12-1/4″ wide by 23-1/4″ high in a modern maple frame measuring about 16-1/4″ wide by 28-3/4” high. The maple frame is in very good condition and ready to hang. Because of the size, UPS is likely to be the least expensive option; I'll be happy to check costs for your location. This will be shipped in a box. A signature will be required at delivery.
