Description: The original rather large 1854 map offered here was prepared in the Office of Pacific Rail Road Exploration & Survey, War Department. Per the caption it shows the "Route explored by Captain Jno. Pope Corps of Topl. Engrs. Near the 32nd Parallel of North Latitude". The map was printed by the Philadelphia lithographer, P.S. Duval & Son. The map shows Captain Pope's route from Fort Towson, Oklahoma to El Paso and Dona Ana on the Rio Grande. It is nicely hand colored and shows geological features as well as forts, towns and the routes of rivers along the way. The dimensions of the map (sheet) are 25 inches in length and 11 1/2 inches in height/width. This map is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints and art that I sell are not "reproductions". For example, offered maps are of the period. Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
