In good condition. Normal wear to extremities. Leather spine and corners scuffed. Head and tail of spine beginning to chip. Gilt lettering on spine rubbed, but still legible. Front gutter split, binding mesh exposed. Ex-library sticker on front pastedown: The Historical Society of Pennsylvania, Purchased by Library Fund, Sept 4, 1907. Ink stamp on front end-page. Light toning throughout textblock. Some instances of finger soiling and age-staining. No known marginalia. Rear gutter beginning to split at head. Binding intact. Please see photos. Founded in 1854, the Merchants Fund is a Philadelphia foundation which provides grants to business persons which financial challenges. The organization was founded to provide its members with business advice, networking opportunities, and protection from financial failure. At this time, there were no health insurance options, disability protections, or pension plans in the United States.
