1864 Sydney Mint Half Sovereign O/C Error "VIOTORIA" EF/aUNC Type II (Details)

Description: This is the first discovery of the O/C in VICTORIA over stamp! This coin is extremely rare given this undiscovered error. Considering NGC perceive this coin is "details" due to being a mount (which I do not trust occurred). It may be that the person wearing this coin as jewelry understood its rarity, and the value it represents. Now, even without this error, a coin of this variety and grade may sell for over $2,000 AUD. I suspect the error occurred as the letter "C" in VICTORIA failed. Which prompted the mint to create a post-production fix. In this case, the fix was applied in the "wrong location" and possibly with some rotation, causing the C to have a minor gap at the bottom of the letter and an overlap where the "C" was meant to have an opening. Causing the letter to look like an "O". There is no telling whether any others have survived or were given '"incorrect corrective treatment". Regardless, a good story and a worthwhile rarity to consider.
