Description: An original broadside printed on October 18th, 1865. Village Record Print, West Chester, PA. It reads: "Groceries, (At the Old Stand,) Gay Street, near Darlington, West Chester, PA. Just Received a good and Fresh Supply of Groceries, such as Teas, Coffees, Sugars, Molasses, Hams, Dried Beef, Mackerel, Fish, Cheese, Butter and Eggs, Candles, Spices, and everything in the Grocery line. Powder & Shot. Sportsmen will find it to their advantage to purchase their Powder and Shot at this store - either in large or small quantities. Cartridges for different calibre of Colt's Pistols; also Cartridge for Spencer's Carbines. The undersigned having returned from the army, and taken the above store, by giving strict attention to business, hopes to receive a share of patronage. B. H. Sweney. October 18, 1865. Village Record Print, West Chester, Pa." This rare broadside measures approx.: 10" x 6", the paper is yellow in color and there are a few stains. It has been professionally framed and the frame measures approx.: 12.5" x 9". I personally have not examined this outside of the frame but you can see signs of wear, still in very good condition.
