Description: Offered - Louise, A Poem in Six Cantos, Edward Moxon & Co., London, Printed for Private Circulation, illustrated with 12 plates and frontispiece, decorative leather binding with raised bars, marbleized end pages, gilded edges, 243 pages. The book tells the tale of Françoise-Louise de La Baume Le Blanc, Duchess of La Vallière and Vaujours, mistress of King Louis XIV. Age - Published in 1866. Measurements - 9" x 7 1/4" x 2" - weighs just under 4 pounds. Condition - Very good. Some minor scuffing to the front board and wear along the top and bottom of the spine. The binding remains very tight, no cracking to the hinges, no inscriptions, a few minor discolorations on the title page, otherwise a very clean interior, complete. Measurements - 9" x 11" x 1 1/2" Condition Grades: As New: The book is in the same immaculate condition as when it was published. This could be the description for a book that has been kept in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed or even opened yet may still be some years old. Fine or Near Fine: A Fine book approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects to the book, jacket or pages.
