ALICE IN WONDERLAND ILLUSTRATED BY JOHN TENNIEL. Inside the front cover board attached internally to the spine is the advertisement for "By the same Author", "Phantasmagoria and other Poems". We have never come across another 1869 edition of Alice in Wonderland with such an advertisement, hence why both books are together for this listing. These books must have been purchased at the same time and kept together for over 150 years. A one of a kind historical piece of literature. The second book is a first edition and first issue of Phantasmagoria with all the correct identifications points for a first issue: The Chapter 'Melancholetta' Incorrectly Numbered 78 In The Table of Contents, no cancel Title-Page, and without "Author Of Alice In Wonderland" on title page. Both books still have the identical original binding label located bottom left corner on the back inside board:"Bound by Burn & C Kirby ST E.C." The book Phantasmagoria in addition has another label located bottom right of the front inside board: "Williamson, Bookbinder & C, Lincoln" Books are completely unrestored and original. These books are very notorious for having condition issues. Extremely rare to find them in this beautiful and crisp condition. Wonderful inscription dating July 10th, 1869.
