Collated, complete.Villas and cottages featured range from Strath Cottage in Dumbarton, The Sycamores in Manchester, Rosebank Villa, Seymour Lodge and a farm names Blubberhouses near Harrogate.A second edition was published in the same year as this first edition, and is also very scarce. From the library of Doctor Malcolm Higgs, an important architectural historian who worked as an assistant architect to Stirling & Gowan, working on their particularly renowned Leicester University Engineering Laboratory. During his long career he taught at the University of Edinburgh School of Architecture, Canterbury School of Architecture, and University of Nottingham. Later in his life he was the Vice-President and Honorary Librarian of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and contributed and edited the ‘Journal of Architecture’. CONDITION In a half calf binding, with cloth covered boards. Small losses of leather to back strip head. Rubbing to board perimeters and joints, with significant rubbing towards tail of back strip. Damp staining to rear board. Internally, generally firmly bound, with plate XLII detached to tail. Pages lightly age toned, but generally clean and bright. The odd light pencil notation to margins.
