The serial number is 8422. Scabbard is NOT included. These were made from 1881-1886 and were carried by Spanish soldiers associated with the artillery. Overall, this bayonet is in Fair - Good condition, considering its age and history. The pommel is securely fastened to the tang, but the guard has a light wiggle. They have scrapes and oxidation. The two (2x) screw escutcheons securely fasten the left wood grip panel. However, the right panel wiggles and is only secured by one of the screws. The screws have oxidized and have heavy tool marks with totally worn slots. The grips has compressions and draglines. The checkering has worn down and there are a couple areas where it is mostly smooth. The wood has started to darken with age. The spine, fullers and sides have scrapes and oxidation. There are no nicks or dings on the blade edge and it appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a dull straight point. The finish has turned to a darker patina color. The left guard is marked with the serial number "8422". The right ricasso is debossed and marked "ARTILLERIA / FABRICA DE TOLEDO" with a crown over crossed cannons. The left guard is marked "U". This sword will be a great addition to your Spanish artillery sword collection, or a sword collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
