Description: Up for your consideration is a stunning antique wood carving from Africa. This was picked up by my Grandfather somewhere in his many travels. He was a British Military Officer during World War II and later a Diplomat. This had been displayed in my fishing cottage for many years. It probably dates to the 1890’s. It measures 27 inches tall by 4 inches wide. Heavy for its size. The wooden base, as you can see, is a different wood. It was made and added by my Grandfather in the 1950’s as a way to display the piece. Contains native shells and animal hide. A amazing piece. It’s simply stunning. Always a conversation piece. This is a 1890's antique African hand-carved wood statue depicting a female fertility goddess with a baby. Belonging to the Punu tribe, the statue is an original piece made of dark wood tone. The maker of this intricate sculpture has unfortunately been lost to time. From my personal collection. Selling to downsize a bit. New items listed every week. Please see and save my eBay store. Many repeat customers. You never know what will be for sale.
