The map is not part of the book, but must have belonged to original owners. The publisher is R.S. Peale Company, Chicago. This is a FIRST EDITION book measuring 11.5 X 14" in Leather. Gilt edges. 549pp printed one side only. John Stoddard, was famous for his travel lectures and books on international travel. This is a large heavy volume of large format photo-type illustrations of the world as it was in 1892. Condition: The book is very nicely intact and the pages are very good, as pictured. However, the spine is missing chunks of leather—bits may come off when it is being removed from wrapping. The covers are a bit loose, but it has held up well. Very beautiful book.
