Description: Listed other places...may end unexpectedly. Restored, 3" WITHERBY Carpenter/Timber Frame/Shipwright Slick Chisel. Please read full description, and see all photos. I strive to show all the details...good or bad. Ask for specific photos or additional details if needed. Carefully cleaned by hand with no attempt made to destroy the history of the tool by removing every dent and ding it has accumulated over it's lifetime. The new replacement handle is made from old-growth Bald Cypress, and has been given a few coats of B.L.O. It is a good fit, and although intended to be removable, should stay in place if really driven "home". The blade is marked "T. H. WITHERBY" The edges / width have been cleaned up. To show the condition of the steel, some sharpening has been done. Initial flattening of the back has been done, and initial grinding/honing of the bevel has been done. The back is flat for the first few inches and falls away after that. It IS NOT flat the entire length. The bevel is honed flat at approximately 20 degrees. Looking closely at the bevel, the "laid on" steel thickness can be seen. The steel is approximately 14-1/4" long. The overall length is approximately 30". IMHO, as nice as you'll find! The handle will be removed for shipping. Are you interested in Old Tools and Tool Collecting? Want to learn more about old tools, and meet some great people who have the same interests?
