When replacing an older limit switch in an electric furnace it is recommended to replace all of them at the same time (there should be between 2 and 4 limits). Sometimes replacing one limit will reveal that another limit (or two) are also weak and going bad. Function: A limit switch is a safety device designed to shut down a piece of equipment.
