Volume I, covering the years between William I and Henry III, is illustrated with ten vibrant full colour plates, and numerous vignette illustrations. Volume II, covering the years between Edward I and Richard III, is illustrated with ten full colour plates, and further vignette illustrations.Collated, complete.These illustrations are the work of English cartoonist, illustrator and artist William Heath Robinson, best known for his drawings of elaborate and whimsical machinery.Two further volumes were published; volume III, Henry VII to Elizabeth, and volume IV, James I to Edward VII.Undated; dated 1907 via Jisc.Two wonderful first editions, relaying the history of England in rhyming couplets. CONDITION In the publisher's original cloth backed paper covered boards, with colour pictorial onlays to front boards. Bumping to spine heads and tails, with light discolouration to volume II back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with instances of light handling marks.
