Description: THE LOST JOY AND OTHER DREAMS From 1909, an extremely rare offering from the press of Thomas B. Mosher, a selection of eight short works of prose poetry. The author is South African writer and activist Olive Schreiner, best remembered for her novel The Story of an African Farm. The Lost Joy is a finely crafted little volume in flexible cloth covers. It remains in very good shape for its 115 years. The covers show some general handling and wear, including slight material loss at the spine bottom. The binding has signs of weakening in a couple places (fourth photo), but the text remains firmly bound. There is a paperclip mark inside the front cover (fifth photo), with slight affect to a couple leaves; the interior is otherwise clean and sharp, few signs of age or use. Again, very rare in any condition: this is the only copy currently for sale online. Measures just 3" X 5.5", viii + 84 pages. There are marginal decorations; however, the photo of Schreiner does not appear in the text. Ships promptly & securely.
