Front cover gilt still bright; somewhat faded on spine. Damp-stain at top of front cover, limited to exterior. Cracking along back of spine, also limited to exterior, with tears to cloth including a horizontal closed tear approximately 2.25 inches from bottom. Corners rubbed through to boards. Spine ends rubbed, torn and frayed. Several small dark spots and a small hole in cloth on front. Pages: Heavy paper with top edge gilt. Decorated end papers. Exceptionally clean and bright, with the occasional stray smudge or mark, including a single word written in pencil in one margin (photo 12). NO foxing. Page 5 of Preface has a tiny nick along edge near top corner. Illuminated initial letters, 12 beautiful color plates with gilt-embellished borders.
