1911 vintage Brownings Their Life Art~Whiting~Elizabeth Barrett~Robert~biography

Description: For sale is a 1911 first edition copy of The Brownings: Their Life and Art written by Lilian Whiting. This book was published by the Little, Brown & Company, Boston. The book is 304 pages, including an index. The pages are deckle edges, except for the top edge, which retains the original gilt. The book includes all of the original 35 engraved plates, including the 2 'photogravures,' which are protected by the original tissue. The plates are all in excellent condition. The book itself is in good condition. There are minimal penciled marks in the text of the book, marking paragraphs of interest, see images. The front endpaper has a brief gift inscription and date (Feb 21, 1912). The cover of the book has bumped corners and some spine damage (see image), perhaps caused by a cat clawing the spine. The binding is secure, except the front hinge, see image, where the paper has started to tear, leaving the webbing visible. Please feel free to ask any additional questions.
