First edition, first printing. In original orange cloth with double filet panel bordering, gilt lettering and gilt and black design work. Quarto, 11β x 8.5β. xii, 177 thick pages, 19 color plates and frontispiece tipped in and adhered to grey paper - which are also used for the endpapers. Large format tour of the finer architectural gems of Belgium, many of which were destroyed during the First World War, the book almost becoming a memorial to the cities of Louvain, Ypres, Mons and others. Overall Condition: Antiquarian VG+ Square spine, firm hinges and joints, colorful boards and gilt work, rubbing to spine and corners, one corner slightly bumped. Some areas of light soiling and a few stains on rear board and bottom edge of text block. Former owner bookplate on front pastedown and former bookstore stamp on rear pastedown. No writing, a few page smudges. Some light page toning. The nicest copy I see on the market! Please view the pictures as they are an important part of the condition and content information.
