1915 RPPC Beautiful View of Mt Hood - McIsaac Ranch & Home - Parkdale, Oregon

Description: There are likely tens of thousands of photos of Oregon's Mount Hood, but this real photo postcard of this majestic mountain has a particular beauty to it. In general, it's a great black and white photograph with vibrant details and a light sepia tone with a beautiful mountain backdrop. Also, the position of the sun provides a nice contrasting illumination of the home and mountain - very picturesque. However, there is a glow to the mountain that makes this an absolutely gorgeous and unique photo. Mt. Hood must have been producing some light cap clouds or this is smoke haze from residents on the other side of the mountain. It adds something quite special from the typical photos of Mt. Hood. The home is on the McIsaac Ranch located in Parkdale - on the northeast side of the mountain. The McIsaacs are a family inherently linked to Mt. Hood. The McIsaac Store opened around 1910 and still operates today. The original store burned down around 1919. Their home was located near the store but unsure if the home suffered the same fate. I do know the McIsaac Ranch no longer exists, but the area has acres and acres of fruit trees – might be looking at the grandparent trees of many of the trees in the area. A person jotted down 1916 but the photo was taken around high summer, 1915. Great condition just minor blemishes - a little wear on the edges/corners, a light crease on one corner and a few light marks. It a well-preserved postcard. Standard postcard size with a gloss finish.
