Description: Book Description David Lawrence Pierson, Narratives of Newark (in New Jersey--From the Days of Its Founding. Newark: Pierson Publishing Co., 1917, 387 indexed pages. Heavily illustrated. Probable First Edition. 6 ¼” x 9 ¼”. Gilt titles on blue boards. Tight binding and clean pages throughout except for a note in the text.. Over=all a very good copy. Pierson was the Historian General of the Sons of the American Revolution. He inscribed this book to E. Louise Coe Bancroft, who, apparently, donated it to a local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. These narratives were revised from a series of articles that appeared in the Newark Evening News in the winter of 195-1916, anticipatory of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the town. The book serves as a history of Newark, dealing with its founding by the Puritans up to the present day.
