This is an antique US Army military commission document for Charles Foster Cooley. The document was attached to what appears to be a piece of construction paper. On the reverse side are newspaper clippings from 1918. He was appointed to the rank of Corporal of the 128th Field Artillery. Charles F Cooley was in the 128th Field Artillery of the US Army. He also served in the Spanish American War. After the US entered WWI, the 1st Field Artillery Regiment was redesignated as the 128th Field Artillery in Oct 1917.The Regiment trained at Camp Doniphan in OK and then went to France. After WWI, Cooley joined the ATF in April 1922 and served as a Prohibition Agent.The Prohibition era lasted from 1920 to 1933 - it banned the sales and production of alcoholic beverages in the US.
