The child in "Little Boy Blue" (p.44) was modeled after Lee's own son. Lee (1866-1929) was born in Marysville, Ohio. She is best known for her illustrations of Mother Goose rhymes in Ella Dolbear Lee's Mother Goose Book, but also contributed to Ladies Home Journal and Women's Home Companion. Her other books include The Blue Domers and illustrations of Grimm's Fairy Tales and Anderson's Fairy Tales. Lee also did advertising illustrations, including artwork for Coca-Cola ads. [Ohio Memory Collection] Cover clean with a few very minor small marks on the front cover illustration. Front and rear hinges reinforced with acid-free linen tape (see last 2 images). All pages firmly attached. Interior clean, crisp and complete. Really a very nice copy of this thick book. 8”by 10 ¼”.
