During the passage of the Land Law (Ireland) Act 1881 was noted for his conciliatory approach and willingness to accept Opposition amendments. His second son, also named Hugh Law, was an Irish nationalist politician who left government the year prior to the passing of this Act. CONDITION In a full cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with a light mark to head of front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with the odd ink notation to the text, and further former owner's notes to recto of a number of pages that do not bear text.
