The spine reads "Vol. I-VI, 1920-1925", and while there are issues from each of these volumes/years included, it is not a complete set of all issues published during that timeframe. This item includes 13 issues: June 1920, Sept. 1920, June 1921, Dec. 1921, Jan. - March 1922, May - Aug. 1922, May 1924, and May 1925. Pencil Points was founded in June 1920 and changed to New Pencil Points, then Progressive Architecture in 1945. There was a monograph series in the 1940s and an additional newsletter in the 1960s. During the 1990s, Progressive Architecture set the standard for architectural journalism which tended to celebrate rather than critically evaluate buildings by star architects. Progressive Architecture was sold to a competitor and closed in December of 1995. By that time, it had won more publishing awards than any other U.S. architectural journal. Winning a Progressive Architecture Award was one of the most coveted honors in design. Starting in 1954, the awards ran until 1987, and were then restarted in 1997 by Architecture/Architect magazine.
