1922 American Caramel E120 Rollie Naylor Pitcher, Philadelphia Athletics (VG+)

Description: DISCLAIMERS: 1. You are purchasing the card in the title. I have a total of 9 cards available from this set. Fronts and backs of all 9 are shown for informational purposes only. 2. I have a big problem with eBay's condition 'choices'. So, go by the grade and description I am giving and not by what I have chosen from eBay's 'choices', because those choices in most cases are an example of overgrading. For example, a card I would call VG, which can still be attractive in spite of some rounding to the corners and a light crease, fits into eBay's opinion of Excellent, while their opinion of VG is a card with moderate to heavy damage all over. To me, honest wear is NOT damage. To repeat, go by the condition I state in the title and description and not by a choice the listing process forced me to make. This is the 1922 American Caramel E120 Series of 240 card of Roliene 'Rollie' Naylor of Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics. Naylor, a right-hander from Texas, broke into baseball in 1913. He played mostly D ball until earning a promotion from B ball New Haven to the Athletics in 1917. He stayed there for five full seasons, 1919 - 1923 (he has no record for 1918, common to a number of players I've researched - most likely due to military service during WW I). He was demoted to Toledo later in 1924, and played seven more seasons for various teams and leagues, mostly in AA and A ball. Naylor had the misfortune of coming along at exactly the wrong time, with the wrong team. He was caught between the end of Mack's mini-dynasty in the early 1910s and the rise of another in the late '20s that resulted in a combined 5 World Series titles in 7 trips to the Fall Classic. In his time there, he went 42-83 for a team that went 397-691 during those years, and finished 8th, 8th, 8th, 8th, 7th, 6th and 5th those seven seasons. Like Dixie Leverett, Naylor doesn't appear on many cards, in fact, he appears in the same sets as Leverett, with the exception of his 1921 Exhibit rookie card. I rate this card as a strong VG+, with good centering, medium corner wear, very clean front and back and only a faint wrinkle at the lower left corner that keeps it from a strong VG-EX. Tracked and insured for $6.90. Please note that USPS has just raised its prices (they say temporarily until January for the holiday season) I will combine shipping on other cards from this group. I can ship up to (4) cards for no extra charge as along as the total is below $100. USPS charges an additional amount per every $100 increment. If interested, contact me for a cost quote, or if you make a purchase of more then one where the total exceeds $100, wait for my invoice
